No that fish was hook with a 7 wt Rod
With a 7 wt it was tough fish to bring in
you are right about those chrome scales. spectacular clean beauty. i would like to try and make an impressionist painting of that photo. the nuances you captured are amazing. look at those shoulders! she must have pulled real hard.

do you know how that acr 1255 compares to the decho 5122 as far as action and power? the decho is a slow, soft, delicious noodle of a rod but i don't have the guts to try it for winter fishing. i have landed summers to 8 lbs on it and it was a gas. i was surprised at how much reserve power a 12' 5wt had. is the action and power similar on the ACR? i imagine the ACR might be a tad faster and stiffer? i have been on a smaller fly trend lately so i thought it might be a good candidate...even if it is a little late now.

I fished the Decho 5wt for a couple of seasons and really like it but I like the Anderson 1255 a little better.
ACR is a little stiffer rod than the Decho, but has tons of power.
I been using a 420 Skagit with 12ft T-11 and it throughs great.
I think the Anderson is the best 5wt out on the Market.
The blueish colors on the scales on the back are always cool looking.
I have been able to capture that coloration a few times in a photo.
Its always great when a photo turns out.
thanks for the info, nothing like a homemade local product. i will give my 5 wt a try and see if i can learned to fight them like you do, no mercy!
Brian, I have a JHC 5wt 125-4 TTH. I guess it is almost the same as your rod? I am going to follow your lead. You have given me the courage to fish it this spring on the Sandy. I have heard several other comments about lighter gear lately.

The JHC version is a little softer rod but should work fine.
I have been fishing lighter rods for 5 or 6 seasons and its been a lot of fun.

Question on the tandem tubes? Have any success using the tandem tubes on spring chinook?

Yes I have caught Spring Chinook on a Tandem Tube Fly.
We usually hook a few on the Sandy fishing for steelhead.
If I was going to fish for Spring Chinook I would tie some that where all chartreuse.
A few years ago when the Deschutes had a good run of Springers I went out and fished for them and had some good luck with that color in a Tandem Tube fly.
