SANDY RIVER FLYFISHING REPORT

Was out last week with some success, we landed one nice wild fish with a few other grabs.
The funny part is the fish we landed decided to grab the fly when I was trying to stretch my clients mono shooting line. I knew he was in a good spot but he was having trouble casting because the shooting line looked like a giant spring. All I felt was a little tap and thought it was a rock until I let go of his line the fish came tight. I guess you never know when it will happen so always be ready, even if your guide is messing with your line.

SANDY RIVER REPORT

Sorry I have not posted in a while been to busy.
I was out a few days last week and had some good fishing on the Sandy.
Thursday we hooked 2 and landed 2 nice wild fish.
This was before the big rains hit Thursday night and All Day Friday.
The River went from 3,000 cfs to over 20,000 cfs in a day.
I might be down enough by Tues or Wed to fish.
It seems the fish are still coming in strong with both winter and summer steelhead
being caught throughout the system.
So get out and swing some flies as soon as the river comes down to fishable levels!

APRIL CHROME

Guide showing off his hand line technique

The past few weeks it has been tough to hit the Sandy river with fishable water levels.
There have been 1 or 2 days of good fishing then the river would rise and get muddy.
The river is in good shape but the water is rising again today.
April is one of my favorite months to fish, warmer weather with chrome hot wild fish!

STEELHEAD FOG

Was Out guiding on Wed on the Sandy river we found a few fish. The fog hung around all day with the warm air temps. It made the river look perfect all day.
The next day the river went out with all the rain.

ICE WATER

My Boat was covered in Ice all day

I pulled this ice off a rock on shore

The ice was so clear I decided to take a photo through the ice
I cancelled most of my trips when the snow and cold temps hit, but some people still want to go.
So we went out today and braved the freezing temps to see if we can find any steelhead.
The water temp was around 35 degrees, probably the hardest temp to catch anything.
We still had a great time any way.
Pray for some RAIN!!!!!!!!
